Taylor Abbott, Monroe County treasurer and head of the land bank that demolished the building, speaks during the opening Saturday. He said the items from the capsule will be professionally preserved and displayed in a shadow box at the fire hall. He also announced that the contractor, Raze International, donated $5,000 toward construction of a monument memorializing the school.
